Bosacks Speaks Out: Call me a skeptic if you will, but I don't yet have much trust in the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). None really, but that is a rant for another day. Let's say this article is on the up and up. I am not in any way ready to applaud that there is only $6.5 Billion in ad fraud instead of 7.2 Billion. These guys and another ad industry group called MRC (Media Research Center), which actually sets standards for advertising measurement, has determined that an online ad can be counted as "in view" if 50% of its pixels are viewable for 1 second. I'm going to ask the obvious question. If your printer accidentally only printed half of a full-page Ford Motor company's ad in your title, do you think you would get paid a single dime? Yeh, I thought not. I'm a simple man, but 50%-for-1-second doesn't only seem unfair, it seems near criminal or should I say near fraudulent.
